Marigolds are a genus of about 12-20 species of annual herbaceous plants of the family Asteraceae (daisies) and are native to the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Pharmacological studies have suggested that Calendula extracts have anti-viral, anti-genotoxic, and anti-inflammatory. Calendula is used to treat acne, reduce inflammation, control bleeding and soothe irritated tissues. There is limited evidence that calendula cream, or ointment, it is effective in the treatment of dermatitis tests.
Calendula extract promotes cell renewal and provides cosmetic properties that help reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. It provides a comforting action reddened skin.
Calendula has healing and antiseptic properties, anti-inflammatory, emollient. By the above we can use on wounds, sores, eczema, bruises, corns, warts, impetigo, ulcers, skin inflammations and as eye drops in case of conjunctivitis.
