Description: Olive squalene is a saturated branched-chain hydrocarbon, obtained by hydrogenation of the unsaponifiables of olive oil.
Olive squalane is one of the most appreciated natural emollients in natural cosmetics and handmade soaps. It has a great affinity with the skin and is present in our skin, being one of the main components of human sebum. It is soft, silky to the touch, non-greasy, stable and innocuous, making it an irreplaceable base for high-quality cosmetic emulsions.
Olive squalene is also appreciated for its vegetable origin, and is odorless, colorless and tasteless. This vegetable asset comes from the deodorization process that is used in an important part of olive oil. The process involves blowing steam through hot oil held under a high vacuum. Small amounts of volatile components, responsible for the strong taste and bad smell, are distilled and released at the same time with olive oil fatty acids and unsaponifiable components, including squalene, then converted to by a hydrogenation process, which stabilizes the product.
APPLICATIONS
