Properties and uses:
The root is used, and eventually the flowers and leaves. In the roots we find the following active principles: mucilages (5 - 25%), pectins, asparagine, betaine, lecithin, phytosterols, tannins, traces of essential oil. It is also rich in vitamins (A, C, E and B).

Pharmacologically the mucilages confer properties as anti-inflammatory - demulcent, béquico, expectorant and laxative.

The marshmallow extract acts as an anti-aging, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, emollient, soothing, moisturizing, depigmenting, regenerating and healing agent. It contains mucilages and polysaccharides. It offers immunostimulation, tissue regeneration and protection of the skin and hair color. It is suitable for sensitive or irritated skin.

Due to its demulcent action, its topical use is indicated in burns, abscesses, boils, gingivitis and pharyngitis. It has a high content of mucilages, which are mucilaginous polysaccharides capable of accumulating water and regulate the hydration of the skin and mucous membranes. Applied on the skin, the Marshmallow provides the following properties:

1. Inoxidante: slows the process of oxidation of cells.
2. Anti-aging: by inhibiting the enzyme hyaluronidase (which degrades hyaluronic acid), it prevents the signs of aging.
3. It has moisturizing and emollient properties.
4. Regenerating: helps to heal small wounds, burns or irritations.
