Properties and uses:
-As a pH regulator
-In the preparation of effervescent tablets and powders.
-To promote citrus flavoring aromas in the preparation of syrups.
-As a synergist to increase the effectiveness of antioxidants. Its mechanism of action is based on complexing with the metals that catalyze oxidation reactions.
- In preparations to dissolve kidney stones, alkalinize urine, and to prevent encrustation in urinary catheters.
-As a component of some anticoagulant solutions.
-In preparations for the treatment of gastrointestinal disturbances and metabolic acidosis.
-The 1: 500 solution of citric acid in water can be used as a disinfectant for the feet and mouth.

Incompatibilities:
Citric acid is incompatible with: potassium tartrate, acetates, alkali and alkaline earth carbonates and bicarbonates, salicylates, benzoates, and sulfides.

Remarks: Diluted aqueous solutions may ferment over time. LIGHT.
